Aberdeen University Marine Society

Aberdeen University Marine Society

The Aberdeen University Marine Society was founded in 2014. The society is designed for people who are passionate about the ocean and want to take an active role in protecting it. We help students interested in careers in marine science to gain practical skills and further knowledge about marine conservation, ecology and sustainable management of marine resources. However, our members come from many different backgrounds and degrees, which shows how many people are passionate and interested in the sea.

We are highly involved in the community with beach clean up events, volunteering and our Schools Outreach Project, which was successfully launched in 2017.

Our educational program involves talks from academics and professional marine scientists, documentary screening and collaborations with the newly established Taxonomy Club. We plan to participate in conferences and organise practical courses for this coming academic session.

We also have lots of fun, with movie nights, pub quizzes, nights out, and pub crawls (see more details in the Past Events section).

Join us and find out more about the new exciting plans for 2020/2021!!!

Memberships are open to everyone.
